Unbox Your Device
Verify the box contents. You should find the device, a USB cable, and recovery sheets. Important: Ensure the recovery sheets are blank. If they already have words on them, do not use the device.
Download Ledger Live
Begin your journey by downloading the official Ledger Live application. This all-in-one companion app allows you to manage your device, install apps, and track your portfolio.
Initialize Your Device
Connect your Ledger Nano S, Nano X, or Stax to your computer. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up a new device. You will choose a PIN code—make sure it is unique and not used elsewhere.
Secure Your Recovery Phrase
Your device will generate a 24-word recovery phrase. Write this down on the provided recovery sheet. Never store it digitally, never take a photo of it, and never share it with anyone.This phrase is the only way to recover your funds if your device is lost or stolen.
Install Crypto Apps
Once initialized, use the Manager tab in Ledger Live to install apps for the cryptocurrencies you wish to hold (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum). Your private keys remain offline within the secure element of the device.
